Death Penalty A cruel Punishment ?

Death penalty has been in existence for a very long time.Some organisation such as AMNESTY international are clamouring for abolishment  of death penalty.

In the light of this, governors are admonish to commute death sentence to imprisonment.

Come to think of it, will death penalty reduce commission of heinous crime?

I think life in prison is a tougher punishment , the moment an offender is executed, the pain is gone. What do you think?
